What jumping in puddles taught me about getting started…

So there I was, halfway through dinner…

Rain is absolutely chucking it down outside.

And the kids?

“PLEASE can we go out in the rain?”

Me: “Let’s finish dinner first…”

^^ sensible head on

But in my head?

“It might stop by the time we finish dinner…”

And that’s exactly what my kids said back.

And I thought ‘it must be a positive thing they are asking to play out in the rain’

Next thing you know, we’re outside in trench-level rain, helmets on, bikes out, soaked through…

And they’re LOVING it. Splashing in puddles, lying on the floor, full of joy.

And here’s the thing that hit me (not the rain as I was finishing dinner with the baby):

Kids go straight to what could be fun.

We, as adults?

We go straight to the downsides.

– “I’ll get cold?”

– “I’ll need a shower”

– “It’s too much effort…”

– “I’ll need to get changed…”

– “The baby will get soaked and he needs more clothes”

It’s exactly the same when starting something new like exercise or eating better.

Or even tracking food despite being so stuck it’s more exhausting not getting results…

We overthink it all:

– What do I wear?

– Where do I park?

– What if I’m not fit enough?

– I don’t have time (looking at screen time will often change that…)

But once you get started — just like going outside in the rain — you realise…

It’s actually pretty fun.

You feel good. You want to do it again.

It was quite refreshing

And that’s exactly what our 28-Day Kickstart is designed to do:

– Help you start

– Support you while you get going

– Give you the plan and accountability to keep going

For women 40+, 50+, 60+, 70+ and beyond — who know what they should do, but need the nudge (and the puddle-jumping energy) to do it.

Ready to feel better, stronger and more confident?

Just message me with “Kickstart” and I’ll send you the details.

And if you’re struggling to get started today with anything…

Just do it like a 6 year old running out in the rain…

Matt
