The ‘disapproved’ by Grandad brownies recipe

The younger cousin picks up the squidgy, charming brownie

Takes a small, cautious bite

Delighted, yet astonished…

she says:

‘it’s actually quite nice’

She continues to chew.

The concentrating face is pulled on.

As she guesses the weird and whacky ingredients I’ve used to ‘trick’ them (evil laugh)

Somehow, Mystic Meg gets them all:

* 1 avocado

* 2 cooked beetroots

* 1 large handful of spinach

* 20 g almond butter

* 1 tsp coconut flavoring

* 20 g almond flour

* 70 ml almond milk

* 1 egg

* 30 g cocoa powder

* 1/2 tsp baking powder

* Cinnamon

* 15 g chocolate whey protein powder

* Pinch of salt

* Optional: 3 tablespoons of stevia for a sweeter hit!

The mother-in-law looks over:

‘Let’s try a bit’

Then…

Without admitted that she feels left out…

Grandma reaches over to grab a charming brownie

BUT then…

Grandad wants to try some…

The same grandad who needs sugar with EVERYTHING

^^^ apart from one time when I tricked him by making him a cup of tea with stevia…’this is lovely’ he said…his face then dropped when I said his tea had no sugar in it!

Grandad’s verdict on the brownies?

‘Why is it wet?’

“erghhhh”

“What’s in this? BEEETTRROOOOTTT??????”

” What’s the point in this?”

^^^ All in a northern, Manchester accent (for added effect)

BUT…

I want you to be the judge

So for the method:

1) Blend all the ingredients

2) Oil a pan (I used 1 kcal fry spray)

3) Pour mixture in and DRIBBLE some more almond butter on top

4) Bake for about 25 minutes at 180C

5) Leave to cool then cut into 12 squares!

Nutrition per bite:

Fat 6g

Protein 4 g

Carbs: 4g

Which is just 86 calories!

Let me know what you think!
