“urgh they’re all toxic”
The response a client got this week from a friend when she bought some 1 kcal fry spray (the olive oil version)…
She was panicking…
Sweating (out of all those ‘toxins’).
“Matt, my friend said not to use the 1 kcal fry spray because it’s full of rubbish and that I’m better off using butter?”
I asked her to have a look at the ingredients of the fry spray:
“Extra Virgin Olive Oil (53%), Water, Alcohol, Emulsifier: Sunflower Lecithin, Natural Flavouring, Thickener: Xanthin Gum”
^^^ Sounds ‘toxic’, right?
Now, look at the stuff you wash yourself with.
The stuff you rub DIRECTLY onto your skin…
In her case (Liz Earle…):
“Aqua (water), Decyl glucoside, Acrylates copolymer, Rosa damascena (rose) flower water, Citrus aurantium dulcis (sweet orange) oil, Citrus paradisi (grapefruit) peel oil, Pelargonium graveolens (geranium) oil, Mentha piperita (peppermint) oil, Pogostemon cablin (patchouli) oil, Citrus aurantium amara (petitgrain) leaf/twig oil, Eucalyptus globulus leaf oil, Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf oil, Abies sibirica (pine) oil, Coco-glucoside, Glyceryl oleate, Phenoxyethanol, Limonene, Citric acid, Tocopherol (vitamin E), Sodium hydroxide, Linalool, Citronellol, Geraniol, Methylisothiazolinone, Hydrogenated palm glycerides citrate”
^^^ Pronounce some of them…
My point is that if you’re worried about 1 kcal fry spray…
You’re probably better off wearing a mask (even buildings give off toxins let alone the outside air pollutants) and never going outside to avoid the harmful effects of the sun.
And there’s more…
Ever heard of Dihydrogen Monoxide?
^^^ sounds nasty, right?
Well, I’ll give you a clue what it is…
You’re told to drink at least 2 litres of the stuff every day to LIVE and flush out ‘toxins’…
Yep, it’s water.
Which probably tells us that the ‘toxin police’ skipped a few chemistry lessons…
Because EVERYTHING is a chemical.
So, to say that ‘low fat’ = ‘chemical $#*! Storm’ is – well – a little naïve.
After all, butter is pretty high in fat and contains chemicals like:
Oleic, lauric, and linoleic acids…
But this doesn’t mean butter is ‘bad’.
What I’m leading up to is this:
Butter contains fat.
1 tablespoon of butter has around 100 calories in…
Now, compare this to 1 kcal fry spray…
If you ‘fry’ or over cook anything, say, twice per day and switch to fry spray
This simple swap (even without exercising or cutting our your usual late night munchies..which you could swap for this or this)…
May help you lose 20 lbs in a year!
Am I saying that you shouldn’t use butter?
No, of course not.
I use butter (quite a lot actually)
But it depends on the OVERALL amount I eat that day and the meal I’m having.
Just by swapping butter for 1 kcal fry spray when cooking my chicken wrapped in bacon, I could throw in a jacket potato with the meal, too…
Which would help keep me full and stop me ‘nipping out to get some milk’ and coming back with a ‘share-size Cadbury Dairy MILK Chocolate Bar’ instead.
