No, it’s not hit the snooze button (although there is a time and place)..
The other day at our early morning Fruci Fit session, I said:
“Give yourself a round of applause — you just got up in the dark and did it.”
Because let’s face it… the mornings are darker. The evenings too. And it’s only going to get colder (and darker) from here.
So rather than focusing on the darker mornings and colder evenings, here are 7 ways to enjoy this season (yes, even if you’d rather be in a blanket on the sofa):
1- Get outside – natural light is great for us (not the one from screens).
2- Vitamin D – Public Health recommends it between October–April for mood, immunity, and even SAD (seasonal affective disorder).
3- Get into a routine – same wake-up and bed times work wonders.
4- High protein breakfast – helps keep you fuller for longer and stops that constant snacking.
5- Soups and stews – warming, nutrient-dense, and batch-cook friendly.
6- Act based on how you want to feel — not just how you feel in the moment.
7- Sleep hygiene – cooler bedroom, no late-night emails, warm shower before bed.
And finally, I challenge you to write down 5 things you actually love about this time of year.
Here are mine:
1- Coming in from the cold and feeling the warmth (amazing after a walk or a run)
2- Pigs in blankets will soon hit the shelves
3- Crisp frosty mornings.
4- Coffee to warm you up (lots of it I switch to decaf after a few caffeinated). I also like a hot chocolate. Milk, cinnamon, cocoa powder and sometimes some orange natural flavouring drops
5- Roast dinners, soups, and stews.
6- Pigs in blankets (worth listing twice).
When you shift your focus, the season doesn’t feel like something you have to “survive”… it becomes something you can thrive in
All from focusing on what you can do..
.
And that’s exactly what our 28 Day Kickstart is here to help you do.
Specifically for women 40+, 50+, 60+, 70+ and beyond in and around the Marlborough, Devizes and Chippenham area, who pretty much know what to do but want the plan and accountability to do it..
Structure so they don’t fall off track when it’s dark and cold.
Support so they don’t do it alone.
Small, doable steps that build confidence…
Message me with “Kickstart” and I’ll send you the details for our September programme.
Matt
