Busy weekend?

Later night than normal?

Feeling like a Bank Holiday nap sounds very appealing?

You might simply be carrying a little sleep debt.

But is napping lazy?

Is napping a useful tool?

A short, well-timed nap may help you feel more alert, less fatigued and a little better able to make sensible decisions later in the day.

^^ Which might be useful after a busy Bank Holiday weekend…

For most people, a good place to start is:

10-20 minutes.

Early afternoon.

Set an alarm.

Then give yourself a little time to wake up properly afterwards.

Some daylight, a drink, a short walk or your final coffee of the day may help.

And you do not necessarily have to fall asleep.

Sometimes I only have two minutes to shut my eyes and breathe.

^^^ You could call it meditation if that sounds more productive.

The key is that the nap helps today without stealing from tonight.

And no…a nap is not a fat burner.

But if it helps you feel less tired, make better decisions and move more across the day, it can still be useful indirectly.

In fact, if you’re awake for fewer hours? Chances are, you’ll eat less.

Fitness is not always about doing more.

Sometimes recovery is the thing that helps you keep going.

Do you nap?
