Why another diet won’t fix this

She mentioned to me how she'd previously lost 3 stone counting points and sins...

Yet, she still wasn't happy with the way she looked in the mirror or felt about herself.

She resented her diet because it was like a full-time job using willpower to avoid sins or feel guilty at the weekends...

Felt ashamed when she'd have to explain why she'd eaten '4 more points' than she was supposed to..

Saw exercise as a punishment or a 'must' to be able to enjoy a 'guilt free' meal out.

And was fed of being told that 'if you didn't lose weight, you must not have been following it'

As a result, she stopped, thought 'F it. Why should I have to do this?' and put the 3 stone (and more) back on.

And it's not the first time I've worked with someone who's told me a story similar to this.

In fact, it's beginning to be a very familiar story. 

And I get it.

It's frustrating.

And it's why through my experience of helping tons of ladies lose weight and through overcoming an eating disorder...

I've learnt that this over-analysis of 'counting points and sins', fearing 'so-called' bad foods, and reducing it down to 'numbers'  which are have 'made up' beliefs attached to them (this number is 'bad' so this food makes me fat...)

takes us further away from the amazing flavours of food and how different foods make you feel

^^^ (your energy, hunger, fullness, sluggishness) 

And what I've seen is that when the focus shifts towards focussing on what you CAN have and give yourself permission to have whatever you want, you actually start to make better-informed, healthier decisions about your food choices.

Start to see exercise as something that's fun, helps to clear your mind, makes your strong, fit and gives you energy (rather than a punishment for the 3 extra points)

Move away from deciding whether its a 'good day' just by the number you see between your feet

You start to feel a bit more like 'you' again.

And its why a big part of my Shift Personal Training and Nutrition System is focussing on mindset.
