You wake up after your first strength session and discover muscles you did not know you owned.

Walking downstairs suddenly becomes a carefully planned activity.

Sitting down is fine.

^^ Depending on how low the toilet seat is…

But it is often getting back up again…

I get it.

This comes up from time to time when people start exercising again after a while.

It is called delayed onset muscle soreness, or DOMS.

It can happen after doing something new or different, especially when your muscles have worked in a way they are not used to.

It does not automatically mean you have done too much.

For example, you might be used to squats but not lunges.

They both work the legs, but the movement is different, so your muscles may have a few words with you the next day…

A normal dull ache is different from sharp pain, significant swelling or pain that is getting worse.

If you are unsure, talk to us at Fruci Fit. That is what we are there for.

It is why our sessions are coach led. You are not on your own and we can adapt things for you.

Sleep, eating enough protein, drinking water and gradually building things up all matter too.

Strength training is not just about lifting a heavier dumbbell.

It can help with carrying the shopping, getting up from the floor, climbing the stairs, feeling steadier and keeping muscles and bones strong as we get older.

Our next £10 7 Day Trial starts on Monday 5th October.

You can try up to three coach-led sessions in Marlborough, Chippenham, Devizes or From Home, with mornings, daytime, evenings and weekends available.

Comment TRIAL or send me a message and I will send you the details.
