What would Batman eat?

No, I’m not taking about the lego Batman from the new movie that’s come out which the kids are all talking about.

But the reason I bring up Batman is because I did an assembly the other week in St Mary’s Junior School in Marlborough and I had a few questions about what I talked to them about. So, I thought I’d share a few of the slides with you…

Here’s what you’ll discover:

* Just how many teaspoons of sugar is in Ribena

* Why some drinks are a great way to gain weight (and almost ‘trick’ you into consuming more calories)

* How Batman avoids the sugar crash…

  1. This grabbed their attention straight away…and you’ll see why I used Batman further down :-

2. I got them to guess how many teaspoons of sugar were in a Ribena…and how 5 a day for a week would be a 1kg bag of sugar (which I showed them). Of course, when asking kids if anyone would eat a whole 1kg bag of sugar, I got many “yes, I would” answers 🙂

3. I got them to compare and see how much sugar is in an orange compared to juice…(over double the amount in juice!!). We then came up with alternatives to juice (dilute it with water / sugar free squash etc.)

4. I then went through how to get ‘Batman” energy levels…rather than feel sluggish and tired…like Dora my dog 😉

PS. Tomorrow, I’m going to show you 3 simple tips to help you stop blaming your willpower (and hiding the wrappers….I always find a few chocolate wrappers in my dressing gown every now and then. No, I don’t sleep eat. As far as I’m aware anyway. I just blame Mrs Fruci…)
