Turning negatives into positives

If you’ve seen my knee situation lately… you’ll know I’ve pretty much done every ligament going

ACL ruptured.

Medial meniscus torn.

Lateral meniscus in FIVE pieces.

Two operations ahead.

For 15 or so minutes I thought: “This is rubbish.”

Then I reminded myself of the same tool we use in the Kickstart —

Shift Reframe .

“How can I turn this negative into a positive?”

Here’s what came out…

What’s positive about this? (A great question when you go through a negative experience)

  • There is still SO much I can do.

Upper body. Good leg. Prehab. Strengthening.

  • It’s making me more knowledgeable than ever about knee injuries, rehab, prehab, and what REAL barriers feel like.
  • It’s helping me relate more to others.

I’ve had so many messages from ladies saying my response to this injury has helped them feel less scared about their own operations or niggles.

  • It’s reminded me how powerful focusing on what you CAN do is.

It’s something I’ve said for years…

But now I’m living it every minute of every day.

  • It’s made me even more passionate about helping people like you stay strong, mobile, confident and independent for as long as possible.

Because when taking a shower becomes a challenge…

Or stairs feel like Everest…

You realise very quickly how important strength is.

The lesson

You’ve always got two choices:

1) Let the setback stop you

or

2) Reframe it, take action, and move forward anyway

I chose option 2.
