This one’s as much a reminder for me as it is for you:
I can run on little sleep for a while (3 kids will do that to you), but nothing—no supplement, no “superfood”, no fancy coffee—comes close to the energy boost you get from actually getting enough sleep…
Last week, I managed to hit my sleep target 5 nights out of 6. A full 8 hours.
And the difference? Night and day (pun intended).
Here’s what’s helped me recently:
1) Getting to bed earlier (9pm instead of trying to squeeze in “one more thing”)
2) Nasal strips (yes, they look ridiculous… but be it placebo or not, seems to help)
3) An eye mask / making the room darker
Simple, boring even… but effective (there is a trend there)
And here’s the thing: when you’ve got more energy, everything else feels easier.
– Making better food choices.
– Getting through a workout.
– Saying “yes” to more of the things you want to do.
That’s why sleep—and energy—are such a big focus in our 28 Day Kickstart.
We don’t just look at food and fitness. We look at the whole picture—your energy, your habits, your routines—so you can get fitter, stronger, and healthier without feeling like you’re running on empty.
That is where the FOCUS element comes in. Something for you that makes you feel good. Something that gives you the energy to do the things you know you need to do. It creates or protects your energy.
For some, it is getting to bed by a certain time…for others it is listening to music, taking 5 minutes to walk at lunchtime or to have no phone for 10 minutes.
I’ve also recorded a seminar on sleep—Message me with “Sleep” if you’d like me to send it over
Matt
