It was 4:30 a.m…
I looked out the window and I asked myself the question we’ve all asked at some point:
“Can I be bothered?”
It was raining. Cold. Dark. The idea of running into the studio just to arrive soaking wet (and then be wet all day) ?
So I didn’t. I drove instead.
5am and I have already NOT done what I said I would do.
Turns out though?
This was a good thing.
Once I got in, I did a 10-minute workout instead.
And afterwards? I felt amazing.
Not because it was the “perfect” workout. But because I’d proved to myself that I could do something… even on the busiest, wettest, darkest, most stressful days.
That’s the real secret to building confidence with your fitness:
– Stop worrying about what’s perfect
– Do what you can today
– Create evidence that you can keep going
Because confidence doesn’t just appear out of nowhere—it comes from proving to yourself (through action) that you can keep moving forward.
So next time you ‘predict the future’ (which is what confidence actually means) you can look at what you COULD do instead of whether you can do the exact thing that you aim to do..
