Remember this if January isn’t going to plan..

I was listening to a podcast the other day and my eldest came downstairs and asked what I was listening to.

We ended up talking about how quickly we label things as good or bad.

One of the points in the podcast was this:

When we label something as good, we often ignore the downsides.

When we label something as bad, we stop looking for the positives.

So I asked her a question.

“Is the fact I did my knee bad?”

She said yes.

Then I followed up with:

Is it bad that I’ve spent more time with you than normal?

Is it bad that we now do more online shopping and our meals are actually more organised?

Is it bad that I now know more about knees, rehab and pre-hab than ever before?

She got the point pretty quickly after that example.

This way of thinking is something I see all the time.

When something goes off track — an injury, missing a workout, low energy, a few weeks of inconsistency… it’s very easy to label it as:

“This is bad.”

“I’ve messed it up.”

“What’s the point now?”

But that mindset is usually the thing that stops progress altogether.

The better question is:

– What could I do about it?

– What can I do right now?

Most women we work with already know what to do..

They know they should move more.

They know strength matters.

They know food choices play a role. Increasing their protein and fibre is key.

What’s missing isn’t information.

It’s usually having the flexibility and options to attend sessions that give them personal guidance.

The accountability and support from others to keep you going.

That’s exactly what the Kickstart is for (message me with “Kickstart” for more info)

Not perfection.

Not all-or-nothing.

Just focusing on what you can do — and doing it consistently, with support.
