So last week, Mrs Fruci gave birth to our little boy
A few weeks early.
So a bit of surprise on the day…
In fact, it got to the afternoon and Mrs Fruci was debating whether to go into hospital..
Me being me..
And with the kids on half term, I quickly made some high protein tuna pasta, made with red lentil pasta for extra fibre and protein, greek yoghurt and mayo to increase the protein whilst keeping the taste, and some sweetcorn.
Nutrition first, right? 😉
Anyway, it gets to the point where we get in the car and head to hospital.
5 year old in the front with me.
7 year old in the back with Mrs Fruci (who is clearly now getting some contractions).
Turns out,
There are some roadworks on the road between Marlborough and Swindon.
So we are sat there in traffic at traffic lights.
Mrs Fruci clearly keeping it together for the kids..
Whilst the kids were playing some educational games on their fake iPad things.
One of them making a family with some coding game.
In fact, she even turns to Mrs Fruci and says ‘is this how a baby comes out?” as she clicks a button and the baby is there…
And in this moment
Where we stuck in traffic
En route to hospital
All we can do?
Is laugh (well I did anyway)
But my point here?
Energy flows where your attention goes.
She totally changed the attention from “OMG we are in traffic, Mrs Fruci does not want to have a baby in a Mini and I don’t want to be delivering the baby in the Mini”
To
Laughing..
Which completely changes the way we feel (even physiologically).
Anyway…
Fast forward an hour
And the baby arrived (phew, we got there in time)
So today, if you ever get in that space of focussing on what you have NOT done..
Focussing on ‘what you should be doing’
‘Beating yourself up’.
Instead, use that energy and focus on what you CAN do.
So
- Focus on what you can do
- Make a commitment to doing that one thing you CAN do (even if you think it is pointless)
- Never break a promise to yourself (even if you think it is pointless, like a one minute workout, like this: https://youtu.be/iZGdAScjRi8
