So I would probably say that this comes up more often than the topic of sleep
(which is saying something seeing as I have 2 toddlers under 3)
But this is the idea of feeling guilty for doing something for you.
I was chatting to one of the ladies coming to the end of her 4-Week Kickstart Programme
(reply with “November” as the subject
line if you’d like info for our November programme BTW)
And she was saying that when she
first started working with us…
She felt incredibly guilty
You see, they’d spent so long doing
things for others:
Kids
Other half
Family members
Friends
Colleagues
Customers
That they’d actually put themselves
LAST
^^ that, they told me is the main
reason they’d let themselves get so out
of shape in the first place
They’d spent so much time and energy
looking after other people
They’d forget about themselves
No time or energy left to exercise (just guilt about not doing it…)
No time or energy left to put healthy
things meals and recipes together (and more guilt about thinking she should ‘do more’ and ‘try harder’
No time or energy to just spend time
working on themselves
Next thing she knew- she’d gained
weight, lost confidence and felt rubbish about herself.
Which is sad…
And I get this.
I’ll be honest..
Bringing up 2 kids has brought challenges I never really prepared myself for…
The compromise between you and putting your family first.
Having responsibility. ..
I get it.
But one thing I do know?
I am a better dad, husband, and coach to the ladies I work with
When I put myself first…
In fact, when I don’t?
I am short with loved ones (which then makes me feel horrendous and more guilty)
Feel like a hypocrite writing blogs to you like this as I am not doing ANY of the things I said I would do (this has happened before by the way…)
I could go on.
And by putting yourself first..
I don’t mean this ‘perfect’ life…
I just mean doing something for you
That makes you feel great..
Essentially, you deciding to create energy…
This is EXACLTY why I created
Our 4-Week Kickstart Programme for ladies over 40 in Marlborough, Devizes and Burbage
Who tend to put themselves last…
(and often to your own detriment)
And I get this might seem daunting…
You might not know where to start or if there is anything out there suitable for you…
It was the same for Alison, too.
Here’s what she said about it on Facebook:
“Matt is a champion for women over 40 and the struggles we all face with growing older and trying to maintain that healthy body.
His fresh approach to personal training makes it accessible to lots of different women who through training together and sharing experiences in the group build a strong sense of community, camaraderie and encouraging support.
Training and nutrition plans are carefully thought out and we are provided with daily updates, the latest research and Matt’s never ending font of knowledge, plus his jokes!
There is no pressure we are just given regular choices in relation to what to eat and when and how much we exercise.
Routines are fun and varied so you don’t get bored and Matt considers every element of your wellbeing including using your brain.
I would highly recommend this program to anyone looking to lose weight and improve mind and body, with the added bonus of meeting many lovely like minded people!”
So if you’re ready to take action and
find that energy you need to feel good
Just message me with ‘Marlborough’, ‘Devizes’ or ‘Burbage and I’ll get you the details for our November Kickstart Programme
(which we have just 8 spaces left for and starts W/C Saturday 2nd November)
