“I’m just going for a wee, Daddy. Don’t eat my food” 😮
My then 4 year old said to me.
And it’s a bit like the cupcake story I spoke about yesterday…
I had to sit and analyse that for a minute…
“What’s made her assume I’ll eat it?” 😋😂
Ahhhhh
Could have been me picking at leftovers
^^^ guilty
We have all done it.
You know, there’s barely enough to save for tomorrow so may as well finish it.
I can’t give it to the dog… “that’s a waste” 😂
“It’s only a little bit”
“I’ll just eat the protein bits”
“I’ll just eat the veg”
^^^ just some of the stories I tell myself to justify it
The best part?
Kids copy.
Kids learn.
They’re our best teachers.
Often mirroring what we do
Copying behaviours rather than words.
Which then begs the question:
Do I want to be a lesson for my kids or an example?
I must say, it was a taste of my own medicine.
It must be what it’s like when us parents say “Santa’s watching so be good”.
The power of accountability
