“Does Keto only work if you’re super strict?”

It’s a great question I had the other day.

So let’s clear this up – without making you feel like you need to live off butter and bacon for the rest of your life…

Here’s the thing:

Doing “true” Keto is hard.

We’re talking your diet made up of 75% fat, 20% protein, 5% carbs.

(That’s basically eating your body weight in mackerel and avocados.)

Even if you fried beef mince in butter and sprinkled a few nuts on top?

You’d still probably not be Keto enough for the Keto Police

And most people?

Aren’t really doing Keto.

They’re doing ‘Keto-ish’… or what I like to call the “I just want to eat cheese and bacon guilt-free” diet.

^^ just a joke 

And that’s OK.

Because here’s why Keto works (when it does):

– You usually eat fewer calories

– You usually eat more protein, which helps you feel fuller

– You cut out a third of your plate (carbs), so there’s less to snack on

It’s not that carbs are the enemy.

It’s not that having a roastie will instantly ruin your progress.

– It’s your overall calories that matter.

So if you fancy a curry and rice at a local event?

Enjoy it.

Just maybe go a bit lighter on the fats earlier in the day.

Here’s the truth:

If you asked a room full of people who’ve tried Keto to raise their hands…

And then asked how many are still doing it?

You won’t have many.

Why?

Because it’s hard to stick to long term without understanding the flexibility you can allow yourself above

It’s a bit like saying I’ll give up mackerel forever… I might manage a few days but life’s too short not to eat mackerel straight from the tin when I’m super busy and hungry….
