I was at King’s Cross station on my way to my cousin’s wedding last week.
My heart sank for a second as I sipped my coffee…
I was waiting at the platform when I realised I was at the wrong train station.
My train was leaving from St Pancras.
I had already gone through the barrier, my ticket would not work and I still hadn’t clocked it. I mean, I asked the person who worked there too and they said it was because I had an advance ticket
I had about eight minutes to get across to the other station and find the right platform.
So I had to run…
Or, given the knee, ACL and meniscus surgery I had in January, let’s call it a fairly urgent jog-trot
Thankfully, I made the train.
It was a good reminder of two things.
Number one: check the small print.
Number two: you never know when you might need the benefits of strength training.
A friend recently asked someone at Fruci Fit to explain those benefits.
The obvious answer is getting stronger.
There is toning up too…
But a lot of the biggest benefits are things you may not notice until you need them.
Nearly tripping, but having the strength and balance to catch yourself.
If you do fall, having supported your muscles and bone density over time.
Getting up from the floor.
Carrying bags.
Climbing stairs.
Keeping up with children or grandchildren.
Or suddenly needing to jog from King’s Cross to St Pancras with eight minutes to spare.
Strength training can support muscle, bone health and the more “toned” look people often want when body fat comes down.
But the bit I probably value most?
Feeling more capable when life throws something at you.
Our next 7 Day Trial starts on Monday 21st September.
You can try up to three coach-led sessions in Marlborough, Chippenham, Devizes or from home.
It is for women in their 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s+ who maybe used to be fitter, know they should do something or want to do more strength work, but need the plan, support and accountability to get back into it.
We meet you where you are, help with technique and adapt things around aches, pains or injuries.
Message or comment “TRIAL” and I’ll send you the details.
Apparently strength training still cannot make me read the train app properly
Matt
