one meal out.
And your brain immediately goes:
“Sod it.”
“I’m doing rubbish.”
“What’s the point?”
“I’ll start again Monday.”
Sound familiar?
But here’s the thing.
It’s quite easy to eat an extra 1,500 or 2,000 calories on a meal or night out.
Food.
Drinks.
Dessert.
Eating later than normal.
More salt and carbohydrate than usual.
And then you weigh yourself the next morning.
Up 2lb.
But that doesn’t mean you’ve suddenly gained 2lb of body fat overnight.
Remember, there’s 3500 calories in just 1lb of fat…
So a lot of that scale increase can be food still being digested, fluid and your body storing more water.
^^ horrid example, but have you ever burped the morning after a pizza the night before and still taste the pepperoni
The bigger problem is often what happens next.
The scales go up.
You panic.
Hit the “sod it” button.
And one meal becomes a weekend.
Then the weekend becomes:
“I’ll start again Monday.”
Again.
What we’re really trying to improve isn’t just the number on the scales.
It’s our response to it.
Can you say:
“Okay. That happened.”
And simply get back to normal?
Not punish yourself.
Not skip every meal.
Not attempt to burn it all off in one workout.
Just back to the normal plan.
One thing that can help is looking at your average weight over the week rather than reacting to one morning.
Or you can stop weighing yourself completely if it’s doing more harm than good.
Because fitness and health are bigger than one number.
Feeling stronger.
Moving more easily.
Having more energy.
Feeling better in your clothes.
Building habits you can actually continue.
And if you need some help getting started, we’ve got two options.
We’ll soon be opening our next Fruci Fit 7 Day Trial in Chippenham, Marlborough and Devizes.
£10 for the week.
Try up to 3 sessions.
Strength, fitness, mobility, Pilates and more.
Everything can be adapted for you.
You don’t need to arrive fit.
^^ that’s kind of the point
And our new 6 week Pilates course starts tomorrow, Monday 22nd June, at our Lockeridge studio near Marlborough.
2:00pm to 2:45pm
Or 6:45pm to 7:30pm
It’s suitable for mixed abilities.
Whether you’re completely new to Pilates or want to progress, we can adapt the exercises for you.
The full 6 weeks is £81.
Or you can try a £15 drop-in session.
For details on the Trial, message “TRIAL”.
For Pilates, message “PILATES”.

PS. One meal doesn’t ruin your progress. Normally it’s the extra few days caused by thinking you’ve already ruined it that do the damage. Back to normal. Keep going
