How often should you weigh yourself?

They’re up and down more than my knee rehab…

That’s the scales..

The sad step..

Whatever you want to call them.

The scales are ONE tool to measure progress, along with your energy, how your clothes fit, waist to hip ratio, muscle mass to fat mass ratio…I could go on.

Problem with the scales?

They fluctuate based on many things from how much fibre and water you consume to sleep and hormones.

They also don’t measure how you FEEL or consider the difference between muscle, water and fat (more on that another day).

So how could you use them? Well for me? Either

1) Don’t bother weighing for a while and focus on DOING the habits you know you need to do with your exercise, sleep and nutrition

OR

2) Weigh every day, add them up over the week and take your average each week by dividing the number by 7 to represent the days of the week. This way, you account for fluctuations.

Do you use the scales?
