A Personal Best… and why strength training matters more than we think

Well done, Helen

Hitting a personal best on her bench press the other week.

Simply because she kept showing up.

And here’s the thing I want to highlight…

yes, it’s great for confidence, yes it feels good, yes it’s motivating —

but strength training isn’t just about lifting heavier weights.

It’s about:

• Bone density – especially important as we get 40, 50, 60, 70, 80+

• Muscle strength – making everyday tasks easier

• Joint support – protecting knees, hips, shoulders

• Posture & balance – reducing risk of falls

• Metabolic health – helping how we process food and energy

• Independence – getting up from the floor, carrying shopping, living life on your terms

Not to mention body shape

Those personal bests aren’t just numbers.

Most people don’t struggle because they don’t know what to do.

They struggle because they try to do everything perfectly… or alone… or they think it’s “too late.”

It isn’t.

Some weeks energy is lower.

Some weeks life is busy.

Some weeks you nearly cancel.

But when you keep turning up — even imperfectly…

your bones get stronger, your muscles respond, your confidence builds, and suddenly one day…

You lift more than you ever have before

and realise you’ve changed without even noticing.

Strength work isn’t about becoming a bodybuilder.

It’s about future-proofing your body.

Being able to say “yes” to things.

Carrying luggage.

Playing with kids or grandkids.

Feeling capable.

This is what our 28 Day Kickstart is all about for women 40+, 50+, 60+, 70, 80+ who pretty much know what to do but need the plan and accountability to do it…and get stronger along the way

Message me with “kickstart” and I’ll get you the details

Matt
