So… slight update from “Matt vs The knee (football injury), Episode 67.”
After doing my knee in (possible ACL/mensiscus – I’ll know more Wednesday), I’ve had some time to sit, ice, elevate, eat mackerel and overthink…
And here’s what hit me:
When something goes wrong, you’ve always got two choices.
1) Beat yourself up and start the “What should I have done differently?” spiral.
2) Or…
Give yourself some actual credit for once.
Because here’s the funny(well, Funnyish) bit…
Over the last year I’ve done more single-leg work, balance stuff, knee stability, jumping, lateral movements, Hyrox, football… probably more than the previous 12 years combined.
So my first thought?
“Well that clearly didn’t work then.”
Classic,
Right?
one setback and suddenly everything I’ve ever done is pointless
But then I thought:
Imagine if I hadn’t done all that stuff?
What would my recovery look like now?
How much worse would today feel?
How stuck would I be?
And it’s the same when it comes to
• A snack-fest evening
• Missing a session
• Feeling off the pace
• Not hitting a PB at Longevity Games, Hyrox, FruciRox
• Or just having one of “those” days…
You forget how far you’ve already come.
You showed up more times than not.
You kept going when it was easier not to.
And you’re further ahead than you think.
That’s what the 28-Day Kickstart is all about.
Not perfection.
Not punishment.
Just getting back into a rhythm so you feel fitter, stronger, more confident, and in control again — with coaching, support, accountability, and a community that’ll cheer you on even on your busiest, most stressful days..
Message me with “KICKSTART” and I’ll send you the details for our 28 Day Kickstart. Specifically for women 40+, 50+, 60+, 70+ and beyond who pretty much know what to do but need the plan and accountability to do it.
Matt
