What a giant inflatable taught me about confidence

So last weekend we went to Cotswold Beach Aquaventure — the big inflatable obstacle course on the lake.

From afar, it looked fun. Slides, climbing, floating platforms…

My 6-year-old was excited for it (and truthfully, so was I). excited to be going on something for adults too

But the closer we got, the bigger it looked.

Then I found out you had to swim across the lake just to get on it.

At that point I was thinking… “Not sure I’d have signed up if I’d known that bit first… partly because I was wondering if my 6 year old got nervous and held on to me a bit, they would take us back. As they were with others who were holding on to their parents in the water.

To be fair, my 6-year-old though?

Got on with it. Shivering… but doing it I now know why people were wearing wet suits and socks (it was slippy too)

We started small. The little slides first. manageable, confidence-building.

Then, with just 10 minutes left, she turned to me and said:

“I want to go on the big slide.”

To which I said “great. Or we could do that one again” pointing to the smaller slide

But no, off we went to the big slides.

So she climbed. Slipped down. Climbed again. Slipped again. Didn’t give up.

Eventually, she reached the top. Looked back at me and said:

“Your turn first.”

Down I went. Straight into the water. Eyes slightly closed. It seems a lot higher when you’re up there

She followed right after — and loved it.

And it reminded me of this:

– Confidence doesn’t come first.

– Action comes first.

It’s only by starting small, then taking the next step, that you build the belief you can do more.

That’s your evidence you need to show you that you can do it. But before confidence becomes action. You can’t expect to be confident until you’ve done it.

Which is why you have to show up first. That’s the most important partt

And that’s exactly what happens inside our 28 Day Kickstart.

Most women don’t start with confidence.

They worry:

X- “I’m too unfit.”

X- “What if I can’t keep up?”

X- “I’ll be the slowest one.”

X- “what if it doesn’t work?”

But just like that little slide, we help you:

/- Start small (work at your pace. That’s the right pace)

/- Build confidence with each step (slowly progress up, be it with weights or depth)

/- And eventually maybe even take on challenges you never thought possible ( be it our FruciRox event, or something like a Longevity Games or even a Hyrox)

Whether it’s losing weight, getting fitter, feeling stronger, or simply having the energy to enjoy life again.

The next 28 Day Kickstart begins this September.

Specifically for women 40+, 50+, 60+ and beyond who pretty much know what to do but want the accountability to do it..

Message me with “kickstart” for more info

See you on the (metaphorical) slide
