She was upset BUT…

So it was World Book Day last week

Kids were super excited about dressing up for school

(probably more excited than Christmas..)

Anyone, my 5 year old was going as Willy Wonka.

And for this, she had to draw a picture to take into school linked to their book / character.

So with technology these days, I googled ‘how to draw wonka’ and we watched some tutorials on how to draw Wonka

^^ amazing by the way and really relaxing. I did it too, and as much as mine looked like a 5 year olds drawing too, I actually was engaged, switched off and enjoyed it (and that is coming from someone who cannot usually sit still…

Anyway, my 5 year old was chuffed with her picture.

So the next day we are getting ready for school,

They are getting their pictures ready.

And of course, I get some water to start their day.

You know, it’s good to stay hydrated right?

I then hear a

‘Oh noooooo’

The glass of water was knocked over the picture..

And not just a little bit..

so…

Mrs Fruci to the rescue..

The hair dryer comes out and we dry it out…

Bit of a smudge..

But one of the things I said to my daughter

Is how despite being upset initially

She still went with it.

And was overall, pretty calm.

I said to her

That it’s a bit like the Wonka movie.

When they try and shut his shop down..

He nearly gives up

But he keeps going..

And the water, smudge

Now represents this.

The obstacles ON the way

That it isn’t perfect.

And as I am saying this

It’s a great reminder and lesson for me too.

After all

It’s not what happens to you

It is how you respond to it..
