This time of year…
End of Summer..
New starts..
That September ‘school starts’ feeling hasn’t really gone away..
But before you know it..
It’ll be Halloween
Bonfire night..
And then you are talking about …
Christmas
And that’s another year of not achieving the goals you want..
Everyone is asking different things from you.
Now I’m all for reminding you that
It’s not selfish to put yourself first.
But 2 different ways to look at this:
1) Schedule your day. So your diary is filled with your priorities. Because it’s a lot easier to say no. Try this:
“I would love to have done that, but I’ve got this here, and I’ve got that here. If you give me a bit more notes next time, I’ll schedule my week in advance, maybe I’ll be able to do it then”
2) You might be thinking, ”but I don’t want to say “no” as I feel “bad…
I get that..
So I want you to write down the benefits TO THEM of saying “no”.
Because maybe it will actually benefit them and you.
Maybe the person or the thing that you were asked to do was over-reliant on you, and now they’ll find other ways to do it.
Maybe they’ll be more resourceful. Maybe by saying “no”, you’ve given them the opportunity to grow, and they’ll be better off, and you’ll be better off.
Maybe they’ll appreciate you more?
As by saying ‘yes’ to something, you say ‘no’ to something else…
It’s the same when it comes to your nutrition and training…
It’s the same when it comes to your nutrition and exercise habits…
What are you saying ‘yes’ to but putting off eating well and exercise today?
Matt
