Now you know how we feel

After surgery last week, I was honestly dreading physio.

“They’ll be with you after lunch”

One day post-op, knee swollen, hadn’t moved for 24 hours, tired, sore, weeing in a bottle TMI and the thoughts going through my head were things like:

“How am I going to get up the stairs?”

“How am I going to sit on the loo?”

“How am I even going to walk properly?”

And yet… those “boring” movements we practice all the time —

getting up from a chair, single-leg work, balance, strength, simple mobility …

suddenly became the most important things in the world.

Not burpees.

Not six-pack abs.

Just… being able to move and balance. Be strong with my glutes (especially getting on and off the toilet).

And sure, when people start with us at Fruci Fit..

They are nervous. Unsure if they can do it .

That’s where that mindset has to shift to

“Can I just be 1% better today?”

That’s it.

Little wins.

A bit less swelling.

A bit more movement.

One more step without thinking.

Getting on and off the loo…

One better choice with food.

One extra glass of water.

One session you almost cancelled… but didn’t.

This is why I talk so much about simple habits and accountability.

Because when life throws something at you — surgery, stress, work, family, illness —

you don’t fall back on motivation.

You fall back on habits.

And you don’t need perfection.

You need support, structure, and people around you who help you keep showing up.

Something we help with in the 28 Day Kickstart. Message me with “kickstart” for more info.

After all, getting stronger and being stronger…

Might just come in handy one day.

Because whether it’s physio, fitness, or life in general…

It’s the little things done consistently that change everything.

Matt
