“I’m worried I won’t keep it going when the mornings and evenings get darker.”

That came up in a conversation the other day.

And I get it.

A warm bed can put forward a very convincing argument.

^^ Especially when it’s still dark outside.

But this person was already showing up.

Feeling stronger. Getting less out of breath on the stairs. Finding everyday things a bit easier.

Yet their mind had already moved on to…

“Yes, but what if I can’t keep it going?”

Look at everything else you’ve just said.

You’re doing it now.

By the time you get to the bit you’re worrying about, you may have weeks of practice behind you.

You may know which sessions fit, who you’ll see and how you feel afterwards.

It can become something you do, rather than a decision you negotiate with yourself every time.

And then we do another funny thing…

We stop giving ourselves credit because it feels a bit easier.

“It’s just part of my routine now.”

Yes.

That’s a good thing.

It still counts.

It doesn’t mean every morning will be easy or you’ll never need to change the plan.

A different session time. A session From Home. A bit less in a busy week.

You don’t need to solve the whole winter today.

Just work out your next step.

Set the alarm, go and brush your teeth, then give yourself permission to go back to bed.

Sometimes just getting up is the hardest part.

If you’d like help getting a routine going again rather than waiting another three months until January…
