That was part of a message I got last week.
She had walked from the campsite to the Minack Theatre.
Rough, rocky ground.
Then high steps up from the beach to the theatre.
And back down them again.
The next day?
Her legs were tired, but she said they were not painful.
“Knee exercises and work on leg strength are really having a positive impact and I’m enjoying doing things again.”
^^ That last bit.
Enjoying doing things again.
Sometimes you notice the benefits of strength work while you are out living your life.
Walking further on holiday. Getting up those steps. Carrying something you would have asked someone else to lift.
Feeling more confident getting up and down from the floor.
You might prefer being outdoors to being in a gym. I get it.
The strength work can help you keep doing the things you enjoy.
She also said she was really pleased to have rejoined Fruci Fit.
Sometimes people feel a bit awkward about coming back.
You were doing something. It was helping.
Then work, family, health or just life got in the way.
That happens.
People leave. People come back. Some stay for years.
You do not need to explain why you are not where you used to be.
We start with where you are now.
With aches or pains, that means finding suitable movements and building gradually, following any advice from your GP or physio.
Suitable strength work can help build the muscles supporting your joints.
The aim is to find what you can do consistently, then progress it.
If you have been thinking “I should get back to it”…
