Boost your willpower (one quick trick)

Boost your willpower (one quick trick)

If you’ve followed me for a while

You will know I had a lot of struggles with public speaking (crazy to think now that I do this every day and absolutely thrive off it)..

Red in the face..

Shaking..

Dry mouth..

Literally wanting the floor to swallow me up…

“Everyone is smarter than me”

The number of times I just called in sick (even at University)

Until I couldn’t anymore as after it was then a case of do it or don’t pass…

Interesting part?

When each presentation came.

I used to think “I can do this”

Then I would say

“But there’s going to be more people than normal”

I would talk myself out of it then into it and REPEAT..

It was exhausting.

What does this have to do with willpower?

Well, I want to share something about the dichotomy about willpower.

Because we know that sleep, exercise, sugar, and stress all impact your willpower..

But often

You need willpower to get to bed early

Exercise more

Meditate or take time for us

And control our sugar and alcohol intake…(try overdoing it here and making great decisions the next day)

So what’s something that helps me take action on these things?

The

Method…

Don’t worry,

I’m not talking about launching a rocket into space..

But rather simply using the 54321 method to do things you know you need to do.

So here’s what I want you to do.

Next time you are procrastinating, thinking about exercising but can’t get yourself to do it?

Count down:

And start.

Why?

Well, like I said about the dichotomy of willpower..

Your brain and body REWARDS you for moving (once you have finished)

Just like it does for getting to bed on time..

Taking time out…

Pushing yourself out of your comfort zone (just like I did with my public speaking fear)

The challenge here is to build willpower …

Seeing it like a battery that you are slowly topping up..

As the more you DO the better your willpower gets.

The better your battery..

And this is what we do inside our Kickstart Programme For Women 40 and 50+..
