After Dry January?

After Dry January?

I was chatting to one of the ladies last week

About how she had done so well with no alcohol during Dry January

But now feels like she has lost a bit of focus.

And I get it.

We start off 2022 with all of this enthusiasm and before we know it

Life takes over…

She didn’t get excited by changing small habits.

She prefers to have something that really excites her.

A big goal.

(actually linked to a walk she wants to be able to complete when on holiday this Summer which she usually doesn’t do or just meets her family later as she does not want to be holding them up)

Exciting, right?

The feeling she will get from completing it.

The surprise on their faces.

(like one of the ladies said to me a few weeks back when her husband found her cleaning windows she hadn’t been able to get to for years)

That sense of achievement.

The feeling from saying “I did that, I made that happen”..

So she has decided to do Dry January again apart from 3 times per month.

Why?

She doesn’t feel she is missing out.

She is 100% confident she can do it.

And guess what?

If she doesn’t do this?

She knows what she will miss out on…

The more energy she has which allows her to exercise..

The Exercise that is going to allow her to complete that walk

Her productivity and energy in the day which gives her that ‘bounce’ back..

You see, you will always deprive yourself of something ..

Every choice results in deprivation of something..

So it is about looking at what the benefits are

And what the costs are.
