“Fit for life” gets used a lot.
But I think this is a great example of what it actually means.
I got sent these messages last week
First…
A photo of some pretty impressive looking steps.
With the message:
“Not bad for a nearly 60 year old.”

Then this:
“We have been up to the peninsula with very little effort.”
“I’m fit enough to do this with an 18 year old”
“Fit for life as you say.”

Amazing.
Because being fit for life isn’t just about:
How much you weigh.
How fast you run.
How many calories you burn.
Or whether your workout looked impressive on Instagram.
^^ although I do try my best on Instagram
It’s being able to say yes to more things.
Walking up the stairs without needing to pretend you’re looking at the view just to catch your breath.
Going on trips.
Carrying your case.
Keeping up with other people.
Or in this case…
Possibly surpassing the kids
I speak to lots of women who say things like:
“I worry I’ll hold everyone up.”
“I don’t know if I’ll keep up.”
“I avoid walks because I know I’ll be out of breath.”
“I say no because I don’t want to be the one struggling.”
And that can slowly make your world smaller.
You stop saying yes.
You miss trips.
You avoid certain days out.
You worry about the stairs.
You make excuses because the truth feels a bit uncomfortable.
But imagine getting to the point where you think:
“Yes. I can do that.”
That is powerful.
And it’s the reward for all those less exciting moments along the way.
The darker evenings.
The sessions you nearly cancelled.
The days motivation didn’t show up.
The strength work that sometimes felt repetitive.
The weeks where progress didn’t feel obvious.
You kept showing up.
You stayed consistent.
And then one day, you’re halfway up a huge set of steps thinking:
“Actually… I’m doing alright here.”
It isn’t easy.
I’m not going to pretend it is.
But what an outcome.
Because if you can say yes to more of the things you want to do…
That’s being fit for life.
At Fruci Fit, we work with women in their 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and beyond.
Women who pretty much know what to do…
But aren’t consistently doing it.
Women who want to get stronger.
Improve their fitness.
Try strength work, Pilates, yoga and different types of exercise.
Have some fun in the process.
And make progress over time.
Our next Fruci Fit 7 Day Trial starts Monday 10th August.
It’s £10 for the week and you can try up to 3 sessions in Marlborough, Chippenham, Devizes or From Home.
Before you begin, we’ll have a quick chat to get to know you.
We’ll talk through where you are now, what you want help with and any aches, pains, injuries, medication or concerns we need to know about.
Then we’ll help you find sessions that suit your fitness, confidence and starting point.
Everything can be adapted.
You don’t need to arrive fit.
^^ that’s kind of the point
See the details here:
Or reply “TRIAL” and I’ll send you the information.
Matt
PS. There will be exercises you think “I can’t do that”. I’ll change that to “I can’t do that YET” but you can do THIS! That is the beauty of coaching at Fruci Fit. We are there on every sessions to adapt for you and meet you where you’re at! That’s how you get started!
