Am I working hard enough in sessions?

I had a really interesting conversation last week.

Someone said they’d lifted a heavier weight in a session and thought…

“Ah… I’ve probably not been pushing myself properly before.”

And that’s such an important moment.

Because it’s not about smashing yourself every session.

But it is about learning what “effort” actually feels like.

We talk about this a lot when we train personal trainers.

It’s called the rate of perceived exertion.

Basically… how hard something feels on a scale of 1-10.

The issue with this?

You don’t know what you don’t know.

Even now, if I train with someone else…

what I thought was my 9/10 suddenly feels more like a 5/10

And here’s the thing…

That’s a skill.

Most people either:

Think they’re working harder than they are

Or push way too hard, too often

What we’re really trying to do is find that middle ground.

Where you’re challenging yourself…

But still in control.

Sure, there are times when you push yourself that little bit more.

over time, you get better at judging it.

You learn:

When to push

When to hold back

When to just show up and do something

And that’s when things start to change.

Because you stop guessing.

You stop drifting.

You start progressing.

And this doesn’t just apply to lifting weights.

It applies to everything.

Turning up when you don’t feel like it

Doing a bit more than last week

Not stopping just because it feels uncomfortable

Because a lot of the time…

You’ve got more in the tank than you think.

But guess what?

Just by showing up…

It’s not a waste of time.

Especially when starting out.

As you’re learning the form, the technique (which is a skill remember)

And developing that muscle mind connection which lowers your risk of injury.

And that’s exactly what we help you find in the 28 Day Kickstart.

Not by just shouting at you…

But by coaching and helping you learn what your level is.

So you can build confidence, get stronger, and keep progressing.

Because most people don’t need more information.

They just need someone to guide them and show them what they’re actually capable of.

If you want help with that, just message me “Kickstart” and I’ll point you in the right direction.
