2 Ways to handle people pleasing

This time of year…

Christmas

Social events

Everyone is asking different things from you.

Now I’m all for the usual stuff promoting and reminding you that

It’s not selfish to put yourself first.

And I actually want you to please people. As long as ‘people’ includes you too.

2 different ways to look at this:

1) Schedule your day. So your diary is filled with your priorities. Because it’s a lot easier to say no. Try this:

“I would love to have done that, but I’ve got this here, and I’ve got that here. If you give me a bit more notice next time, I’ll schedule my week in advance, maybe I’ll be able to do it then”

2) You might be thinking, ”but I don’t want to say “no” as I feel “bad…

I get that..

So I want you to write down the benefits TO THEM of saying “no”.

Because maybe it will actually benefit them and you.

Maybe the person or the thing that you were asked to do was over-reliant on you, and now they’ll find other ways to do it.

Maybe they’ll be more resourceful. Maybe by saying “no”, you’ve given them the opportunity to grow, and they’ll be better off, and you’ll be better off.

Maybe they’ll appreciate you more?

Just a thought..

Ready to stop pleasing people and finally put yourself first in 2026?
