Ghost trains & comfort eating

So me and the kids did our little ritual of walking down to the fair the night before it opens in Marlborough on Friday night.

Me, 3 kids, wind, rain, a trike, and a supermarket trip to get some milk…

Not as magical and stress free as it sounds but memorable…

They love watching the rides being set up — all the lights, the music testing, the smell of diesel…

It’s quiet, calm… kind of magical, actually.

And I said to them,

“Is this more exciting than the actual fair?”

^^ I mean, it is free too..

They didn’t answer — but I think we all knew the truth.

Because once the fair actually starts…

It’s chaos.

Queues, noise, “I want to go on this one, not that one, can I go again?”

And it got me thinking — sometimes the idea of something feels better than the real thing.

Like when we say:

– “I’ll just start again Monday.”

– “I’ll stop eating chocolate tomorrow.”

– “I’ll wait until things calm down.”

We perceive those moments — quitting, delaying, “starting fresh” — as rewarding…

But when they happen?

They don’t actually feel that great.

Meanwhile, sticking with it — even when it’s not perfect — that’s what actually feels better long term.

That’s what builds the confidence, the results, the “I can do this” feeling.

It’s the same with snacking or late-night comfort eating too.

Research shows we perceive certain foods (especially when tired or stressed) as more rewarding than they really are.

Just knowing that can help you pause, breathe, and decide differently.

That’s exactly what we work on in the 28 Day Kickstart:

– Simple food habits that don’t rely on willpower

– Short, effective workouts you can do at your pace in our private studios or from home

– Support and accountability so you keep going — even when life’s messy

If you’re ready to stop waiting for the “perfect time” (spoiler: it doesn’t exist)…

Just message me with “Marlborough”, “Devizes”, or “Chippenham”,

and I’ll send you the details for our next 28 Day Kickstart.

Specifically for women 40+, 50+, 60+, 70+ and beyond who pretty much know what to do but need the plan and accountability to do it…
