I’ve been personal training now for 17 years…
And I honestly believe September is more like January than… January
Because over the summer, it’s so easy to slip out of your usual habits.
You’re out of routine. Eating a bit later. Picking at leftovers when you’re not even hungry (guilty).
And before you know it… it’s been a week of “What am I doing again?”
But here’s the thing:
- You don’t need to be perfect
- You don’t need to “start again”
- You don’t need to “go all in” on some unsustainable plan
What actually helps?
- Setting small, realistic non-negotiables for your day
- Walking more — even if it’s just around the street
- Doing a short 15–30 min workout (even with the kids climbing all over you. In fact, my 1 year old finds me working out quite entertaining)
- Building meals around protein and veggies so you feel GOOD again (serve them first at the BBQs).
after all — starting again is 10x harder than just keeping the momentum going.
So this is your nudge:
You don’t need motivation.
You don’t need to wait until Monday.
You just need to start doing something again.
We’ll be here when you’re ready.
Matt
