Feel old saying this, but having been personal training for now coming up to 16 odd years you start to see trends. Things that work and don’t work. Things that come and go.
And I’ll be honest, some of the things I’ve done and said in the past, I’ve now changed.
Studying postgraduate nutrition was great. It gave me the knowledge and ability to be critical of what’s out there. See through the BS. But what it didn’t teach me was the skill of applying it. And it’s only through doing (just like we say to everyone at Fruci Fit – Personal Training when they start their journey) that you learn how to create long lasting change.
And it’s not the “new year new me” or the odd 3 month detox or event that gets you sustainable results.
It’s making it a lifestyle. Creating long lasting habits. Acting based on how you want to feel rather than how you currently feel.
And the good news?
It starts with getting the basics right.
And I know what you’re thinking, “they’re too easy” “too simple”. And they are. But the key part? Consistency and persistence. I mean when I think back to when I did bodybuilding (yes I posed on a stage in pants) and qualified for the British finals and ended up coming second (even with my stag do and my wedding the week before), the things I did were simple. But simple things are done consistently.
So here are some Do’s and Don’ts for sustainable results in 2024 (and there are more)
