I could not be bothered…
I’ll be honest, I could not be bothered to do my exercise the other day
I was sat there with our coach Julie…
who said, you better do your workout.
To which I jokingly said:
“my arms a bit dodgy and the moon is not quite where it needs to be so may need to give it a miss”
Of course, this excuse did not last (coaches need coaches too)
Thing is, it is a different type of exercise for me. I am training for more of an endurance event which is not usually my thing..
I actually find them hard.
It is different to my normal workouts. Which I am comfortable with.
Thing is though, I want to challenge myself
and I know how good I feel after
and despite needing that push yesterday to do it
( and by push I mean Julie dragging me and setting up the workout and making sure I do it haha)
I felt so much better after…
As they used to say on CBeebies (can’t believe we have exited the CBeebies phase)
“Nothing fixes sadness like a chuckle and a chortle”
^^ The words of Dr Funny Bones
And they’re right. In fact, researchers recently found that those who find exercise ‘fun’ (and by fun…I kind of mean just about bearable lol) are more likely to lose weight.
How?
Well, if you have to DRAG yourself to exercise every time. It’s a real chore. And you hate every minute of it. and even after it you still hate it and do not really feel that sense of achievement?
^^ see how ‘fun’ and motivation can come from the sense of achievement after too…
They showed that you’re likely to compensate and REWARD yourself with food.
(124% more chocolate (M & Ms) and 35% more chocolate pudding was eaten by those who simply viewed exercise as just a way to lose weight rather than fun)
Of course, it won’t always be fun
and actually it is likely that changing any habits at times results in things that do not feel fun at the time…
thing is though, there is a reason why you want to change your habits, right?
Because there is a part of your current habits you do not find ‘fun’ or ‘acceptable’ or you are no longer willing to tolerate it..
be it your relationship with food or exercise…
But I guess it’s no surprise, really.
I mean, how do you feel when you have fun?
Pretty good, right?
And if 95% of your actions are based on how you FEEL, then having fun is probably going to help you make better-informed decisions about your food choices …
It’s why we focus on VARIED, fun yet scientific principles in our sessions at Fruci Fit, ranging from muscle strength to cardio to boxing to stretch to yoga to Tai Chi to pass the bomb to monopoly…
But in all honesty, my main goal is just to help you make ONE more better decision today than you did yesterday about your Food, Fitness and Focus…
^^ and sometimes that will mean ACTING based on how you WANT to feel rather than how you CURRENTLY FEEL
If we can do that?
I’m happy.
Because I know through experience that once you get going and start to experience the fat loss ripple effect…it’ll become a habit and you’ll be
back in control
feeling that sense of achievement
feeling like yourself again
Less out of breath
and maybe fitting into those clothes you wanted to wear too (which everyone says they want to do by the way but always says ‘ i know this sounds vain, yet most people say it….does that mean everyone is vain? It is OK to want to wear certain clothes by the way…)
And if I can do this by making you laugh?
Great.
Make it a great day..
Matt
